There are several ways to take a screenshot on a Mac:
- Using keyboard shortcuts:
- To capture the entire screen, press Command + Shift + 3
- To capture a portion of the screen, press Command + Shift + 4. When the cursor turns into a crosshair, use it to select the area you want to capture.
- To capture a specific window, press Command + Shift + 4, then press the Space bar. The cursor will turn into a camera icon. Click on the window you want to capture.
- Using the Screenshot app:
- Open the Screenshot app from the Launchpad or Applications folder.
- To capture the entire screen, click on the Capture Entire Screen button.
- To capture a specific window, click on the Capture Selected Window button.
- To capture a portion of the screen, click on the Capture Selection button. When the cursor turns into a crosshair, use it to select the area you want to capture.
- Using the Touch Bar:
- If your Mac has a Touch Bar, you can press the Screenshot button on the Touch Bar to capture the entire screen or a specific window.
Once you have taken a screenshot, it will be saved to the desktop by default. You can also use the Screenshot app to save the screenshot to a specific location or open it in a different app.
